The latest Monthly Construction Update from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which uses the Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) as one of its sources, is now available.

The latest update shows that monthly construction output increased by 1.7% in volume terms in March 2022, marking a record high in monthly level terms (£14,994 million) since monthly records began in January 2010.

The increase in monthly construction output in March 2022 came from increases in both repair and maintenance (3.0%) and new work (1.0%).

Anecdotal evidence from returns to the Monthly Business Survey suggest repair work was boosted in March due to storm damage in February 2022.
