Jeff House, Head of External Affairs Baxi Heating UK (incorporating Heatrae Sadia) is BMBI’s Expert for Water Heating.

Whilst the political debate surrounding Brexit continues, there is a great deal of uncertainty with regard to the final political and economic settlement that we can expect. We are continuing to assess a number of possible scenarios, including the potential for the UK exiting the European Union with ‘no deal’, and the ramifications this could entail.

This review process is ongoing and will continue to be informed by external advice and guidance to ensure that we are ready for any eventuality. Suffice to say, contingency measures are in place to mitigate against identified risks including those to our supply chain, and the flow of components and movement of goods.

Without knowing what the likely outcome of the negotiations will be, we’ve had to build in resilience against a range of outcomes. A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to ensure we have that resilience including investment in warehousing, organisational space, processes and transport so we can maintain the same high level of aftersales and customer support whatever the outcome.

Clearly manufacturers and the wider industry will continue to pay close attention to the situation as it develops, however customers will still need heating products, services, and technical assistance, irrespective of what happens with Brexit in the months ahead.
