The latest Monthly Construction Update from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which uses the Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) as one of its sources, is now available.

This month’s update shows that construction output grew by 1.3% in September 2021, with new work and repair and maintenance increasing by 1.3% and 1.2% respectively. The level of construction output was 1.0% below February 2020 (pre-pandemic) levels.

In contrast to the monthly growth, construction output for the third quarter (July-Sept) was 1.5% lower than the second quarter of 2021 (Apr-June).
