The latest Monthly Construction Update from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which uses the Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) as one its sources, is now available.

The update shows that construction output fell by 0.8% in May 2021, while still marginally above the February 2020, pre pandemic, level. The decline was driven by falls in both new work (-0.4%) and repair and maintenance (-1.5%).

In contrast, the three months to May 2021 saw construction output grow by 6.3% compared to the previous three-month period.
